Honduras

ICAT supports the government of Honduras—through the Dirección Nacional de Cambio Climático (DNCC) of the Secretaría de Recursos Naturales y Ambiente (SERNA)—in developing a refined MRV and NDC tracking framework. This system enables Honduras to assess the impact of its climate policies and actions and to report progress. The project strengthens national transparency systems through targeted technical support, capacity building, and knowledge sharing. Honduras is also a member of the ICAT Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub in Central America.

Overview

The project’s primary objective is to support Honduras in strengthening the framework for the regular collection and management of data. This will enable effective monitoring of mitigation actions—particularly in the energy and AFOLU sectors—and support the achievement of its NDC. Additionally, the project will focus on the technical design, participatory validation, and implementation of a submodule within the National Climate Change Monitoring System, providing the functionality needed to monitor and evaluate indicators for tracking the NDC and associated policies.

  • Technical assistance for NDC 3.0 Transparency
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of mitigation policies and cost estimation
  • Strengthening of the transparency system for the tracking of the NDC and its policies
  • Updating the Transparency Platform
